Former Royal Airforce Engineer James Linahan has joined the UK’s leading design, build and installation play company, TouchWood as its new Operations Manager.
James’ (left) brings considerable operational and management experience to his new role, having spent 12 years as a Weapon’s Engineer for the Royal Airforce, where he managed the organisation of Airforce kit deployment for each planned manoeuvre. In addition, James also gained valuable operational experience having worked for several years in senior management for a large supermarket chain.
As Operations Manager, James is managing TouchWood’s build and installation team and is establishing the best procedures to maximise the Team’s use of time, equipment and manpower, to meet the Company’s increasing client workload.
TouchWood’s team design and construct sustainable, highly engineered playgrounds and adventure play areas for schools, councils, retail and leisure complexes and national visitor attractions, throughout the UK and Europe.
Commenting James said, “TouchWood is an expanding business. As we not only design but also build and install play equipment for our clients, it is vital that we plan and utilise our resources as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Play is a new sector for me, but the principles of operational efficiency are universally transferrable. As a father to young children myself, I am finding it fascinating to see the innovative designs the team create and it’s heartening to see the hugely positive impact our natural play spaces have on all those children who use them.”
