It’s easier to ask who we don’t work with!
Our team has been designing and constructing innovative, highly engineered playgrounds and adventure play areas for schools, County and Parish Councils, retail and leisure complexes, architects and landscape architects and national visitor attractions, throughout the UK and Europe.
We love to help all schools make break-time brilliant and we can help with everything from planning to maintenance.
We’ve created jaw-droppingly beautiful play places for big businesses like retail centres, and theme parks. We work closely with many local authorities, councils and parish councils and have been trusted to enrich environments belonging to the National Trust, wildlife trusts and the Forestry Commission. We work alongside landscape architects, and not only understand but predict and solve problems before they even come up! Contact us for plans, visuals, guidance, inspiration and images to support your project at every stage of planning.
Every client is different, with varying needs, and our extensive experience across a wide range of sectors and projects means we know how to help you get the most out of your project and budget, whatever your location.
WHO WE WORK WITH
From Early Years to Secondary schools, we understand your needs will be varied and will likely incorporate outdoor learning alongside play and exercise.
A well-designed play area is one that considers play value alongside long-term maintenance needs, accessibility and the careful balancing of risk and safety.
We will help you ensure that the unique, distinctive and cherished aspects of your site and the values of your organisation shine through in your play spaces.
We understand that your visitors come to you for play - to stay all day, relax and enjoy your site and the setting. If they have an enjoyable experience they are likely to return for more.
We engaged TouchWood to assist in developing our plans for a multi-age group adventure play area in Devonport Park as part of the restoration of the park. Engaging TouchWood in ‘Designing for Real’ was a pivotal action and I am grateful to TouchWood for assisting us with building a consensus with the Friends of Devonport Park, young people, parents and children on an agreed site and an exciting and innovative theme, which we went on to deliver. The completed scheme has been a vital component in the park securing a growth in use of 141%.
Chris Coldwell, Senior Project Manager (Transport & Infrastructure), Plymouth City Council
The children love the equipment and it’s on a Year Group rota at lunchtime, so they get a turn one day each week at the moment. They’re so proud they ‘designed and built it themselves’ it’s always one of the things they tell visitors about.
Claire Lobley, Office Manager, Barons Court School, Southend
We were very satisfied with the whole process from design through to completion and beyond. TouchWood have continued to support and advise us and have put right any minor snags along the way quickly and willingly. We felt truly listened to and involved in the whole process; the team were happy to let the project evolve and change as the build progressed.
TouchWood also facilitated a visioning day for us, guiding and supporting (so that) we were able to thrash out what was important to us about outdoor play and which structures would support our creative and eco-friendly ethos. They ran parent, staff and children’s workshops to involve the whole school community in the build. We are continuing to work with TouchWood and cannot recommend them highly enough.
Lindsey Fuller, Headteacher, Speedwell Nursery School and Children Centre
We used TouchWood to design and install play equipment in our village. They were impressive throughout the design process: meetings were informative and communication, by phone and email, was easy. They had a good attention to detail and walked us carefully through the necessary steps. Enjoyment and safety were always at the forefront of the conversations.
During the build phase, TouchWood did everything to ensure that the site was safe and caused minimum disruption to the local community. The final products look stunning. They have a sculptural feel that enhances the natural space beautifully. They have been the talk of the village and are extremely popular with the kids and adults alike.
Ionides Trust, Buxted
From our first contact with TouchWood Enterprises the service and professionalism was excellent. Joe was more than helpful during our early discussions, he guided us through a difficult time and advised what could be achieved within budget. The on-site team led by Steve proved to be most professional; the end product was delivered on time and the site cleared – (we’ve) nothing but praise for TouchWood.
It was not a cheap buy for us but the ends justify the means and we feel with the feedback from local residents that the costs were justifiable. We have no hesitation in recommending TouchWood to any local authority or private individual, you get the very best quality end product and the satisfaction that it was worth every penny spent.
John Symonds, Chairman, Georgeham Parish Council
Working closely with the team at TouchWood has brought our vision and ideas into reality. The quality of the products has surpassed our expectations and the staff, children and families are thrilled with the wonderful equipment we now proudly have in our outdoor spaces. We are excited to plan and implement our next project.
