DISCOVER MORE
The aim was to create a space that seamlessly blended with the natural surroundings while providing a fulfilling experience for the thousands of weekly visitors.
We embraced the challenge by prioritising a connection with nature and a sense of adventure. The existing landscape, with its lush vegetation, provided a perfect canvas for our design.
To create the centrepieces, we went on a major search around Bristol for hardwood trees that had fallen during the winter storms. It took 6 months and we found 3 oak trees and turned them into interesting and exciting play features. Giant climbing trees, giant oak acorns and a 4-metre-high partially hollowed-out oak tree were just some of the features specially created for this busy centre.
The resulting playground boasts various features tailored to engage visitors of all ages. Among them are:
In the second phase of development, in 2023, TouchWood Play introduced a water play area, replacing the Mall’s summer beach installation. This addition enhances the sensory experience and offers relief on hot days.
Since its installation, the TouchWood Play playground at Cribbs Causeway has earned the admiration of parents for its blend of sustainability, creativity, and fun. By prioritizing nature-inspired elements and diverse play opportunities, the playground became a first destination for families seeking quality leisure time amidst nature.
If you are a retail developer looking to enrich your space with a unique, sustainable playground that delights families and integrates seamlessly with the natural environment, find out more about how TouchWood can elevate retail spaces with interactive parks.
