TouchWood has started installation work on a prestigious project to deliver a new and highly innovative natural play experience at the heart of Bicester Village in Oxfordshire.

Bicester Village, which is owned by Value Retail plc, is the UK’s second largest tourist destination after Buckingham Palace. The luxury shopping destination is home to more than 160 boutiques of world-famous brands, together with a selection of restaurants and cafés.

TouchWood is to reimagine the original playground area within the Village Square, with a new creative concept which aims to capture the essence of rural village life and complement Bicester Village’s location in the historic Oxfordshire countryside. Our highly skilled team is using local materials and traditional craftsman building techniques to provide a playful interpretation of Oxfordshire’s historic architecture and the Civic history of Bicester.

The new play space at Bicester Village is due to be open for visitors in early 2019. Speaking about the project,

TouchWood’s Founder and Chairman Joe Cooper said, “We are absolutely delighted to have secured this contract with Value Retail to design, build and install this highly creative new play concept at Bicester Village.  We share many common values with Value Retail who are also passionate about the use of high quality and sustainable natural materials which are designed to complement their environment.   Our team of skilled designers and craftsmen are currently installing the many bespoke features we have designed and built for this unique scheme, that will create a sense of joy for the many visitors of all ages to Bicester Village.”
