Job Type: Full Time (5 days a week)

Salary: Circa £30K dependent on experience

Location: Bristol

Are commercial carpentry projects starting to feel a little…well…wooden? Now’s the opportunity to expand your creative carpentry skills and take a leading role in building bespoke-crafted timber play equipment.

The Job

We’re TouchWood. We design, build and install adventure play environments where children can enjoy fun, healthy, imaginative play in a safe and natural setting.

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated site foreman to ensure work is carried out to the highest standards and to the agreed schedule, with a rigorous approach to site safety.

You’ll be joining an outstanding, committed (and contented) playground build team of professional carpenters, designers, craftsmen and technicians who are all dedicated to achieving the very best results for our customers.

About Us

We’re wild about wood, and we believe our enthusiasm shines through on every project we undertake.

In the last 15 years, TouchWood has created play spaces for The National Trust, the Forestry Commission, a large number of councils, the NHS, hundreds of schools and nurseries as well as indoor play barns, adventure parks, garden centres, caravan parks, pubs, camp sites and many more.

All our projects are unique and bring their own set of challenges and rewards. Each is designed from scratch, in collaboration with clients, often with the active input of children and local community members. Our green ethos is important to us and we pride ourselves on working with locally sourced materials.

About You

You’re a dedicated craftsman with woodworking skills in both green wood crafts and conventional joinery.

You’re not content with comfortable repetition, but are keen to expand into something more creative, challenging and varied. A proper team player with excellent organisational skills, you’ll help your colleagues bring every project to a successful conclusion.

If you’re an experienced carpenter who wants to branch out, you’ll need:

  • Experience of working on professionally operated construction projects, with foreman experience and an ability to work under your own initiative.
  • Understanding of layout plans, marking out and surveying of sites.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Site plant qualifications (Telehandler, Digger, Dumper).
  • Work at height qualification, PASMA, LOLER.
  • Chainsaw license (useful but not essential).

Join the adventure – and free the creative carpenter inside you!

If the job is a good fit with your skills, experience and ambitions, please send us your CV and a covering letter by email (james@touchwoodplay.co.uk) . We look forward to meeting you.

No agencies thank you.
