The Touchwood team is full of talented designers, craftspeople and installation specialists

Since 2002 we’ve been perfecting how we work together to offer a well-oiled service with in-house design, manufacturing and installation.

We do not doubt that our team will help you develop your playground vision and support you throughout the entire design and installation process.

Our leadership team

TouchWood was founded in 2002 by our founder Joe Cooper. Joe built Touchwood around the importance of innovative and imaginative play. His mission was to create amazing, unique play experiences where kids could use their imagination to have their adventures in a safe, stimulating, natural setting. Over the years, the company has grown, and it got to the point where Joe needed a partner to work to bring the Touchwood experience to the many clients queuing out the door.

In 2018 Tim Harms joined Joe and the wider team at Touchwood as Managing Director. Tim and Joe have built a dream team delivering creativity and efficiency that has seen us expand into a shiny new workshop alongside our woodyard. Together they’ve taken Touchwood Play to new heights taking on more projects and continually improving Touchwood’s ability to provide world-class playgrounds to schools, leisure attractions, retail locations, tourism businesses, parks and public spaces.

Our design team are the people you’ll work with first, helping you hone in on a concept and sign-off the project

Your first chats with us will be with our concept design team. They aim to clearly understand your brief and build an initial picture of what you want to achieve. Whether you are a local school or a massive retail park looking for a playground, our design team will help you figure out the best way to approach your project based on your goals and constraints. Once we have the main details figured out, the wider design team will work with you to build out your playground design, carry out a site survey, and build a plan and pricing structure for your project. During this phase, we’ll create 3D models and illustrations to help you visualise the entire space, the play routes and value and how the playground works on your site.

Our manufacture and installation teams ensure your playground is made to the highest standards and is installed at your site with ease and precision

Once we approve your design, everything is passed to our manufacturing and installation teams. They’ll work with you to plan your playground’s installation and physical creation. The team comprises highly skilled carpenters, painters, plumbers, site managers, and many more talented people. They’ll help you determine what can be pre-manufactured and delivered to your site and what needs to be built on-site. In their hands, your project will be installed with attention to detail and care to ensure your playground is handed over fully and safety inspected in line with your design.
